Paris Saint-Germain are away at Clermont Foot 63 in Ligue 1 this Saturday with the leaders 12 points clear coming into the game. Mauricio Pochettino will still be missing several regular starters but hinted that he could make Kylian Mbappe captain in the absence of Marquinhos. Team news
PSG:
The season is pretty much over for injured duo Leandro Paredes and Julian Draxler while Marquinhos will also miss out due to muscular pain and his partner giving birth.
Storylines
Clermont: Without a win in five and on a run of four straight losses, Clermont need points badly and could be dragged into the relegation zone before this one if AS Saint-Etienne beat FC Lorient on Friday. Mohamed Bayo remains the team’s top scorer in 10 goals, but he has scored just once in 2022.
PSG: Last week’s 5-1 thrashing of Lorient means PSG have two wins from three, but their overall form remains patchy, and they are clearly stronger at home than on the road. Mbappe was on fire last week and hinted that he could stay so it is in Pochettino’s interest to get another performance out of his players.
Prediction
A straightforward win for PSG. Clermont might offer some resistance but the visitors should have too much for them.
Pick: Clermont 1-3 PSG.
