Storylines

Arsenal: With five wins on the bounce, Arsenal are coming into their meeting with Liverpool in a rich vein of form, though the same was the case for them earlier in the campaign before they were swatted aside at Anfield. Still their recent results suggest that this is a team who can match the best of the Premier League in key areas, not least in a midfield where Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard have been two of the division’s form players.

The former won Arsenal’s player of the month for February while Odegaard seems a good shout for March’s prize after devastating displays against Watford and Leicester; in the latter he created six chances for teammates. He will do well to register so many with Fabinho on his case but right now the Norwegian looks capable of unlocking any defense.

Liverpool: In what could be a significant match for their title bid — though as Jurgen Klopp says “it’s final after final after final after final after final that we play” — it is welcome news for Liverpool that Mohamed Salah’s knock against Brighton at the weekend is not expected to rule him out of the trip to London. Ibrahima Konate is also fit again with illnesses to  Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner the only new issues in the camp.

“Mo is a tough cookie and he was only a little bit cut, we were quite lucky with it,” said Klopp. “It was swollen, painful, yesterday a little less swollen, less painful. Now I got the message before the press conference that Mo is ready to train and we will see how that looks.”

Prediction

Arsenal have been proving themselves week in, week out of late. Having pushed Manchester City so close in January there is reason to believe they might get a positive result this time around. PICK: Arsenal 1 Liverpool 1
